Presentation Abstract:
This comparative analysis will cover encryption approaches and architecture, as well as required controls for enterprise encryption. The complementary roles of encryption and access control in a security program will also be viewed. The discussion will focus on four major encryption approaches:
- Application Level
- Column Level
- File System Level
- Storage Level
Bio:
Mike Fleck has been with Vormetric, Inc. for over 5 years where he serves as the Director of Technical Services. Mike is responsible for product management as well as all aspects of technical sales support. During this period, Mike has worked with Fortune level accounts (EDS, IBM, Boeing, MerchantLink and Wells Fargo) and strictly confidential government institutions to determine data protection strategies and the respective data encryption approaches, define technical/business requirements and conduct technical evaluations, and deploy the enterprise wide data encryption solution. Prior to joining Vormetric, Mike was a principal architect at High Tower Software in helping to conceive and develop the company’s Security Event Management solution. Before High Tower Software, Mike worked as a performance and capacity planning specialist at Lockheed Martin and Predictive Systems. He also is regular speaker on industry events and forums, having previously been a speaker at ISSA – Sacramento 2004.
