Virtualization is taking the IT industry by storm. And for information security administrators, securing virtual environments is a relatively new activity. In a recent InformationWeek poll, 70 percent of the respondents reported they’re running at least one virtualized server, yet less than 12 percent have a security strategy tailored to their virtual environment.
Bio:
Greg Mead is a senior network security analyst for Stonesoft Inc. Mead has more than 19 years of experience in senior solutions architect and sales engineering roles in the information technology industry, including more than 10 years in systems security. He has managed firewall/VPN and intrusion detection/prevention solutions, LAN, WAN and dial-access equipment, broadband infrastructure and service management, and IP networks.
Prior to joining Stonesoft, Mead was a Solutions Architect with Compuware where he designed and implemented the Vantage Service Check probe network monitoring over two million users. Prior to Compuware, Mead held senior positions with organizations including Nortel Networks, Intrusion.com, Group Technologies Corp., Computer Advantage, Inc., and Ft. Benning. He was also the president of Mead & Associates, a Managed Service Provider for customers ranging from multi-national corporations to small businesses. Mead is a certified information systems security professional (CISSP).
