Atlanta Cyber Stars 2023

This is the inaugural event of Atlanta Cyber Stars, an awards event presented by the Metro Atlanta Chapter of ISSA.  Cyber professionals at 5 career levels will be honored plus a Cyber Team and a Cybersecurity Vendor.   Join us for the exciting opportunity to celebrate cybersecurity heroes in the Atlanta metro area.

Details

The Award Categories are based on the ISSA Career Lifecycle® along with two additional Categories listed below.  The deadline for Nominations is September 9, 2023. Nominees must reside or be employed in the Metro Atlanta area. ISSA Membership is not required for Nominators or Nominees. The announcement of the finalist nominees for each category will be made in October. Each finalist nominee will receive 2 complimentary VIP Tickets to the Awards Gala on November 16, 2023, at the Villa Christina, Hyatt Regency Atlanta Perimeter.  Nomination Forms are at the bottom of this web page.

 

Award Categories

Emerging Star Award for Pre-Professionals

An individual who has not yet (and never has) obtained a position working in the cyber security field. This may include anyone who has an interest in working in this area with or without formal training and education in the field. Examples of individuals and or situations who may be part of this phase are individuals who are switching careers (former military, IT, retail, law enforcement, etc.) and students (high school or university).

 

Rising Star Entry Level Award

The entry-level of the Cyber Security Career Lifecycle® is occupied by individuals who have yet to master general cyber security methodologies/principles. Individuals in this phase of the lifecycle may have job titles such as; associate cyber security analyst, associate network security analyst, and cyber security risk analyst for example.

 

Shining Star Mid-Career Level Award

The mid-career level of the Cyber Security Career Lifecycle® is occupied by individuals who have mastered general security methodologies/principles and have determined their area of focus or specialty. Individuals in this phase of the lifecycle may have job titles such as; network security analyst, cyber security forensics analyst, application security engineer, network security engineer. Individuals who are nearing the “senior level,” may begin to hold job titles such as senior network security engineer, senior cyber security analyst for example.

 

Brilliant Star Senior Level Award

The senior-level of the Cyber Security Career Lifecycle® is occupied by individuals who have extensive experience in cyber security and have been in the profession for 10+ years. These individuals have job titles such as senior cyber security risk analysis, principal application security engineer, director of cyber security, etc.

 

Blazing Star Security Leader

The security leader level of the Cyber Security Career Lifecycle® is occupied by individuals who have extensive security experience, ability to direct and integrate security into an organization. These individuals have job titles such as Chief Information Security Officer, Chief Cyber Security Architect, etc. After extensive periods of leadership – some become recognized industry leaders.

 

Pleiades Cluster Star Team Award

This is a special category for exceptional teamwork to solve a difficult challenge, respond to an incident, execute a significant project or in general make an important contribution to their organization or to the cybersecurity professional field.

 

Orion Constellation Award for Cybersecurity Vendor

This is a special category for a cybersecurity product (software or hardware) or service vendor who is nominated by at least five (5) clients.
