BIO:

Derek is a senior technology and cyber security executive with experience as a change agent developing strategic direction and setting corporate vision within various industries including Food & Beverage Manufacturing, Pharmaceutical Manufacturing, Financial Services, Healthcare, and Technology Services. In his roles, he has conducted risk assessments and gap analysis of PCI, HIPAA, HI-TRUST, GDPR, and 23 NYCRR 500. He is also an Executive Board Member with the InfraGard Atlanta Members Alliance (IAMA) and Director, Security of OnSolve LLC.

Derek has over two decades of information technology (IT) and cyber security engineering, operations, and executive management experience within various industries including; Consumer Markets, Pharmaceutical/Life Science, Technology Consulting Services, Financial Services, and Healthcare.  In Derek’s current role as Director of Cybersecurity and Privacy for PwC he assists commercial customers with strategy, transformation, and risk for IT and cyber.  Derek started his career as an IT Infrastructure Engineer and reached various levels of management from a Data Center Manager to Chief Information Officer.  Derek achieved his BS in Computer Studies from the University of Maryland through the Armed Forces GI Bill.  He obtained his CISSP and CBCP in 2001 and 2002.  Derek was the security architect who implemented The Coca-Cola Company’s inaugural global managed security services operations center.  He served 4 years in US Naval submarine force (SSBN 658 Mariano G. Vallejo).
